Tips for applying to universities abroad; a chat with Ms. Nishita Paul.
On 23 November, 2012, the students of classes 11 and 12 attended a workshop conducted by Ms. Nishita Paul. Ms. Paul studied at the Queen Marys School Mumbai and the Blue Bells International School, New Delhi before graduating in Economics from Delhi University. She then proceeded to the prestigious Cambridge University to complete her masters. She also has an advanced degree in Economics from the Warwick University, U.K. Ms. Paul is presently working as an Investment Consultant with Towers-Watson, a well-known investment consulting firm in the UK. She is parallely pursuing a 3 year CFA course (CHARTERED FINANCIAL ANALYST).
Ms. Paul began with a brief introduction of the basics of studying abroad. She shared with us her experience at Cambridge and how it has helped her in her career.

This was followed by a question-answer session, where students articulated their queries on studies abroad. Ms. Paul explained to us why co-curricular activities were very useful for admissions to universities in the UK and US. Her tips on writing an admission essay were specially useful. She outlined the general admission procedure followed by most foreign universities and, explained to us why UK is better than the US in terms of financial aid for undergraduates.
The workshop was very helpful and yet again opened our eyes to new perspectives to be kept in sight whist attempting to apply a college abroad.
