TCS IT quiz

Every year, Tata Consultancy Services organises Indias largest inter-school IT quiz, the TCS IT Wiz, in all the major cities of India, including Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai etc. This year, the Delhi chapter of the quiz was held at IIT Delhi on 11th November, 2017. There were about 100 teams from diverse schools. The quiz was open for students from classes 8 12.

From our School, there were 6 teams that participated. They were accompanied by Ms. Ekta Chitkara.Samarth Saxena (XI) and Tanmaye Kohli (XI); Gitansh Satija (XI) and Yash Lamba (XI);Shrey Gogia (X) and Subrangshu Bannerjee (X); Arjun Pasricha (XI); Chitrak Kala (X) and Omkar Khurrana (X); and Vidhu Verma (XI) and Apoorv Gupta (XI).

Like each year, the quizmaster was Mr Giri Balasubramanium, popularly called PICKBRAIN.

The preliminary round consisted of 20 questions spanning the vast world of computers and IT. Questions were based on the history of computers, business startups and latest technologies. Of the 100 participating teams, 6 needed to be shortlisted for the final round to be held on stage.

The final round was broadcasted live on the internet. The quiz was a mixture of all types of questions, some factual, some based on visual inputs and others requiring the children to apply their quick thinking skills to promptly arrive at the correct answer.

Each finalist was awarded an interesting prize. The team who won the on-stage final round qualified for the national finals, to compete with other regional winners.

This quiz was an excellent platform for all the upcoming young tech wizards who got a chance to sharpen their skills among peers sharing a similar interest.
