Teacher workshop by Bookaroo on enhancing the reading habit among students
On 8 November 2024, at a thought-provoking workshop organised by Eureka Bookstore in collaboration with Bookaroo at Sunder Nursery, our Mr Rajeev Massey represented The Indian School. The workshop, titled “What’s on Your Bookshelf?”, was an interactive one designed for school teachers and librarians and featured three distinguished speakers-Ms Prachi Kalra, Ms Sonika Kaushik and Ms Parul Bajaj.
The session began with an introduction and was followed by a series of engaging questions that aimed at sparking reflection and dialogue. Participants were asked: “What books are currently on your school library shelves?, Are there any specific rules governing your library’s collection?, How diverse are the books you offer to students and should they be more diverse?” These questions set the stage for a rich exchange of ideas.
The workshop focused on fostering a love for reading and developing lifelong reading habits. It provided valuable insights into how school libraries can be made more dynamic and inclusive. Key suggestions included treating the library as the heart of the institution, allowing senior students to access books from all sections of the library and making the space more vibrant and appealing to encourage reading.
Overall, it was an enriching and informative experience, offering practical advice on creating an engaging library environment that will inspire students to read.
