Teacher workshop on Innovative Approaches to teaching Hindi

Full Marks Publications, organised a Hindi workshop on "Principles of Learning in Hindi Teaching" on November 23, 2024 at Amrita Vidyalayam, Pushp Vihar. Four teachers of Hindi at our School participated in the workshop - Dr Shikha Sharma, Ms Sushila Negi, Ms Drishti Srivastava and Ms Rashmi Chauhan. Led by educationist Ms Neeru Bhugra, the session delved into innovative approaches to integrating Hindi with other subjects and teaching grammar in a contextual manner.

Key Takeaways

1. Inter disciplinary Learning - Ms Bhugra emphasised the importance of connecting Hindi literature with subjects like history, geography, and science to create a holistic learning experience.

2. Contextual teacher of grammar: Instead of isolating grammar rules, Ms. Bhugra suggested deriving grammatical concepts directly from the text being taught, making grammar learning more relatable and engaging for students.

3. Story-Based Learning: The workshop highlighted the creative potential of language and encouraged educators to design story-based learning activities for students.

Engagement Initiatives and Outcomes

1. "Reflective Voices" (Writing Activity)-Teachers wrote short reflective passages about themselves, which were then shared with their peers, fostering a sense of community and emphasising the importance of self-expression.

2. "Tales of Imagination" (Storytelling Exercise)- Teachers wrote stories based on given prompts, showcasing the power of language and encouraging educators to design similar creative activities for students.

Feedback and Impact

The workshop was interactive and well-received by the attendees. The teachers appreciated the practical strategies shared by Ms Bhugra and expressed enthusiasm about implementing them in their classrooms. The hands'-on activities were effective in demonstrating the principles discussed, making the session both enjoyable and insightful.

The workshop successfully highlighted the dynamic ways in which Hindi teaching can be made more integrated and contextual, inspiring teachers to think beyond traditional teaching methods and adopt innovative practices that enhance language learning and encourage holistic development in students.
