A workshop on teaching Hindi
was organised by Madhuban Educational Books at K. R. Mangalam Global School on 28 December, 2019. Teachers teaching the language at various
schools participated in this workshop. Ms Kajal Soni, Ms Sunita Singh and Ms Sushila Negi represented The Indian School at the workshop which aimed at enhancing the different teaching strategies and techniques such as cooperative learning, interactive learning and integrating ICT into regular classroom teaching.

The resource person was Dr. Syed Matheen Ahmed, member of the State Resource Group - Hindi, R.V.M., Hyderabad. He talked about the new education policy, Blooms Taxonomy, the role of artificial intelligence in teaching and micro-teaching. Through various activities, he discussed the role and responsibilities of a teacher in the overall development of the child. He described the different ways to help the child acquire the skills necessary to learn a language.
The speaker said that it was only after a teacher had successfully ingrained the techniques of learning a language would she/ her be able to achieve the desired learning outcomes. Dr Ahmed shared various innovative techniques (Introduction, assimilation, recapitulation, worksheet and creation) to teach grammar and writing skills like paragraph writing, letter writing, notice writing, advertisement and dialogue writing.
The workshop culminated in a question - answer session with Dr Ahmed.
It was a very enriching experience and refreshed us with the manifold strategies that can be deployed to teach Hindi more effectively.
