The importance of school- Special assembly by class 5A.

Assemblies are an important feature of Schools routine. They also form a significant part of the school's curriculum. They are a means to create a positive, reflective ethos and promote value-based education. They powerfully nurture the development of intrapersonal intelligence.

At our School classes take turns to present on a theme identified for the week. On 1st April 2006, the students of class 5A presented their assembly in the auditorium. Their topic was ' The Importance of School which was a relevant theme as the children had just embarked upon a fresh academic session.

The assembly began with Kovid Sharma and Abhishek Gupta volunteering to speak about the importance of school life. They concluded that school is important as the experience and always stays with one through ones life. They emphasised that one's school is instrumental in shaping ones personality. Hardik Narang and Ishaan Nalwathen recited a poem illustrated the relevance of discipline and values taught at school as these help one to become a better person. They also said it was important to embody a code of conduct to achieve desired goals. A small skit scripted by the students showed how important it is to avail of opportunities provided by school in order to become successful. The subtle humour was skilfully woven into the performance keeping the audience in splits. The skit ended with a pledge to become an ideal student. Towards the end, the choir joined in and sang a melodious song that glorified school, what it teaches and how it prepares each student to face the challenges of life. The assembly could not have concluded without a message from our headmistress, Ms. Neena Maini, who advised the children to be responsible and accountable for their actions. She narrated a beautiful story to inspire the children to realise their hidden talents and have confidence in themselves and their abilities, to prove to the world that the students of The Indian School can scale any height if they so determine.
