Top honour at inter school conclave

The Jim Corbett- Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant Memorial Conclave is held annually by the Birla Vidya Mandir School, Nainital. Our School was also invited for the 11th Thought Conclave. The event comprised the Multi Format FG Pearce Memorial Debate, Creative Writing, Quiz and Art Installation. Students of classes X- XII participated in all the events.Shrey Gogia of XII A, Mehar Saxena of XII B and Jahnnobi Roy of XII D took part in the debate. The Quiz team comprised Kartik Anand and Shrey Gogia of XII A and Jahnnobi Roy of XII D. The creative writing team saw Krithi Bajaj and Mehar Saxena of XII B as participants. Shreya Palit of XI B, Krithi Bajaj of XII B and Sifti Singh of X E took part in the Art Installation.   The event commenced on 19 April, 2019 at 9 am. The opening ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp and an address by noted debater, Mr. Parnab Mukherjee. The events of the day unfolded simultaneously. The host school was brimming with students. Creativity and innovation hung in the air. On the first day, the competitions of creative writing, art installation and quiz were conducted. The creative writing event comprised poetry and prose. We had to interpret the given pieces in our own ways and present as poem and prose. Simultaneously, the other events were also taking place. For the art installation we were given the topic MY MEMORIES OF THE JALLIANWALA BAGH MASSACRE as the historical day had completed 100 years a few days earlier. Next, we had the quiz where our School stood fourth. The quiz had visual and buzzer rounds as well. The day ended at 5 pm with tea. Principal, Mr. Anil Kumar Sharma, gave a heartfelt speech thanking the participating schools and wishing them luck.   The finals of the Debate took place on the second day. The motion for the final was This house believes that India has lost the Indian Ocean politics to China. Our School stood first in the Debate. Springdales, Pusa Road stood second and Mayo College Girls School and Birla Vidya Mandir, Nainital jointly shared the third position. BK Birla, Pune won the Quiz whereas Birla Vidya Mandir and Sainik School secured the second and third positions respectively. Scindia School (Gwalior) took the first prize for Creative Writing and Sunbeam School secured the second position.   Overall, the event was immensely informative and a terrific experience.
