Visit to places of worship for Pre-primary.

The EVS curriculum at the pre-primary level includes learning about Places of Worship. To facilitate this, School arranged for the children to visit the different places of worship in the Schools vicinity.

The day of the excursion was 20th January 2017. Four places of worship, a gurudwara, temple, church and a mosque were identified for a visit by the children. They were briefed about these places and the features associated with them a day in advance in the classroom.

The journey started with a visit to the Jagannath Temple in Hauz Khas where the group was offered prasadam after they spent a few minutes in quiet prayer. They were then taken to a church in the locality. After lighting candles as a mark of their reverence, they joined the choir, humming along. They then moved on to visit a mosque nearby where they observed its features from outside. The final stop was at the gurudwara, also in Hauz Khas. Volunteers at the greeted the children at the entrance and guided them into the main prayer hall after they had all suitably covered their heads handkerchiefs. The children were all offered the customary Kada prasad.

Back at School, the children discussed what they had seen on the excursion.
