Visit to the Rail Museum

A visit to the Rail Museum was planned for the children of class 2, on 20th December 2016. Even though it was a cold foggy morning, the weather failed to be a damper on the enthusiasm of the children!

As the group approached the entrance to the museum, the sight of a large rail engine parked in front became a source of excitement to everyone. Children cheered in anticipation of things and activities they would get to see inside! As they stepped inside the museum, they were delighted to view exhibits of wagons, coaches and engines displayed there.

The students had already been informed in their classrooms about the Indian railway system, how it was developed and its operational scale at present. Now they saw first-hand, samples of carefully preserved engines and coaches in the various stages of their evolution. The teachers described the historical background of each exhibit as they walked through.

Needless to say, the highlight of the visit was the famous toy train ride. Back at School, the excursion was followed up with each child creating a drawing of his/ her image of the museum. It was a day well spent with the right amount of fun and knowledge for our little ones to take home.
