Workshop by School of Visual Arts

"Art is the desire of a man to express himself, to record the reaction of his personality to the world he lives in". To cater to the interest of its secondary and senior secondary students, the Indian School organised an interactive workshop by representatives of the School of Visual Arts, New York. It was conducted on 20th November 2015 by Mr. Adam Rogers, Director of International Outreach, Admissions and Ms. Aditi Khurana, Regional Coordinator, India Head, School of Visual Arts, New York. The School of Visual Arts is a college of art and design. It is located in Manhattan, New York and founded in 1947. With a faculty of more than 1100 creative professionals, this school offers 11 undergraduate and 21 graduate degrees, along with continuing education courses. The emphasis of the workshop was to brief students about the wide range of courses available in the Bachelor of Fine Arts programme. The programme includes courses such as Advertising, Animation, Cartooning, Fine Arts, Interior Design and Photography, etc. The team provided a glimpse of some of the works of their alumni too. The works were outstanding and gave our students an insight into the quality and high standards the institute was capable of drawing from its students. It spoke volumes about education imparted at the institute. The students were also given information about short term summer courses available at the institute. Besides this, they offer internship opportunities to those graduating from high school. The workshop was supported by a power point presentation. The powerful images used created a suitable impact on our students and they came away feeling enthused. The team also distributed catalogues and pamphlets, which provided ample information on how to go about applying to these institutes. Many of our students eager queries were addressed too. The institute provides an interesting opening to students who have a keen interest in the visual arts. Being better equipped now, in terms of information, we hope some of students avail the opportunity to study at this prestigious institute. Art Department.
