On 10th December 2018, students of class XI assembled in the auditorium to attend a workshop conducted by NIIT University. The interaction first introduced the session with a view of the worlds changing demographics in relation to the job market.
The representative of the university gave us a variety of insights- the application of science to problems- here he spoke of innovative ideas presented by students for solving problems of daily life. The relevance of IT skills, the growing importance of information as a resource and its security, the rapid advance of technology and its threat to human labour were some other points raised.
The links between technology and finance, artificial intelligence and learning through machines were also points made. The speaker mentioned that the unemployment faced by Indian youth is to great extent contributed by lacking technological skills.
In the end, an activity conducted by the visiting resource persons threw up various unique and interesting ideas from the students. It was announced that the best ideas would win an opportunity to present these at the University.
The session was an interesting and novel experience for us.
