Workshop on Crafting the Jet-toy and Skimmer

A World in Motion ( AWM) and the Society of Automotive Engineers ( SAE), in collaboration with MARUTI Suzuki India Ltd. organised the Master Teacher Training Programme on 21st July, 2017 at the Mapple Emerald Hotel in Rajokri. Our teacher, Ms. P. Yogeshwari, got the opportunity to attend this wonderful workshop. AWIM is an international event organised by SAE. It provides students of classes 5 and 6 an opportunity to interact with industry experts and learn the applications of science and math fundamentals. Students get a firsthand experience of learning to craft a balloon-powered jet toy and a skimmer that harnesses wind energy to operate. [gallery link="file"] It was a one day's training programme for teachers of participating schools and other volunteers. Here, an industry expert explained to us, how to assemble the Jet-toy Car and Skimmer and improvise on their performance. Students would be required to create a toy that travels fast, carries weight and travels a substantial distance. For this purpose they are guided to experiment with various nozzle sizes and body designs. The students also have to learn to market the toy in the best possible manner and also create a demo toy for the purpose! Creativity plays an important role and can be harnessed effectively by the combined motivation of dedicated teachers and volunteers. The programme was very effective as it gave us a hands'-on experience of creating and presenting a jettoy.
