Summer Internships 2023 - Summer Internship with a chartered accountant for class 11 (Commerce)

Our students of class XI Commerce attended a commerce internship at Anil K. Maheshwari & Company, New Delhi – 110008 from 25 to 31 May 2023. The students were Khushal Bansal, Priyanshi Aggarwal, Soumit Dey Sarkar, Gautam Asija, Jaslin Kaur, Mughda Arora and Shashwat Krishna.

On the first day, the students were briefed about the various career options available in the commerce stream and their doubts were addressed. On Day 2, the children engaged in practical work and learned how to create ledgers and do journal entries on Tally Prime. They additionally learned about the various types of vouchers. They also gained knowledge about the profit and loss accounts, the balance sheet and how to prepate these.

On the third day, the students learned about taxation. They determined taxes through different techniques; registered them and made a tax calculator. They also found out about the slab rates and the various kinds of taxes, like cess, surcharges etc. On Day 4, the students got a detailed insight into the working of a chartered accountant. They were made to arrange board reports of various organisations, make MCA forms, and set them up as indicated by the given data. They learnt business management and project management skills.

On Day 5, the students were familiarised with various excel equations and their purpose as well as the significance of excel with respect to the job profile at hand. On Days 6 and 7, the students got an opportunity to present their analysis of stock market data for the month of May. They had compared and analysed the stock prices of different companies and decided on the best company to invest in. The students learnt the skills of problem solving, data analysis and time management.

The week-long internship, thus, allowed the students to gain valuable insights into the highly sought-after vocation, vis., chartered accountancy. It helped the children hone their skills and learn, watch, gather and apply knowledge hands on. It was an enriching experience for them.
