The Citizenship Programme gives space beneath the Moolchand Flyover a facelift
On 20th December 2015, the Citizenship Programme group of our School set out
to restore the space area below the Moolchand Flyover. The team comprised five students – Kriti (VIII), Anoushka (VIII), Aanchal (XI), Saksham (XI) and Sadaf (XI). They were accompanied to the site by Coordinator, Ms. Sangeeta Aswani.
It was sad to see such a space in the heart of a very prime part of our city, vandalised in this way with indiscriminate posters. At 10 am, the children divided the work area between the two pillars on the road connecting South Extension and Moolchand Hospital. They started scraping off the posters with brushes and then proceeded to wash the areas. The garbage strewn about was also swept away. Next the group got down to painting the wall with fresh white paint for a fresh look. When dry, they added some creativity with an attractive geometric pattern.
After over 2 hours of working on the problem, we wrapped up for the day, happy that our effort had borne fruit.
During the course of our work, many passing motorists had noticed us and stopped to ask about our work. They asked what we were doing. They also asked which School we belonged to. Spontaneously we got a thumbs’-up for our efforts., each time! Many even took photographs. We are sure that the next time you drive past the flyover, you also will not miss spotting the perseverance of your children! The remaining pillars on the opposite side will also be repainted in the coming weeks.
