InstitutoCervantes, New Delhi iscurrentlyhosting a series of event to raise awareness in India about films, music, fashion, gastronomy, culture, tourism and literature in Spain and other Spanish speaking nations likePeru,Mexico,Venezuela, Cuba,Chile, Columbia etc.
On 23 June, 2012, Ms.SunitaSingh, Ms.CharuBhatnagar, Ms.SuchishmitaChatterjee, Ms.RukminiThampi, Ms. SoniaMojumdar, teachers of our Schol, accompanied by the Vice- Principal Ms. Tania Joshi and Head Teacher, Pre-primary, Ms.VijiVasudevvisited the Institute to soak in the Spanish flavor. Though the highlight of the days event was the opening of an exhibition: Cartoonist, ironical visions of daily life: Mario Miranda y Gomez de la Serna, the Institute had much more on offer. More than a dozen of these nations had individualpavilions enthralling visitors with their displays and enthusiasm. While some of us got browsed brochures, others savored the various gastronomical delights on offer. We also enjoyed collecting several souvenirs which were being distributed generously cute artefacts and candies from Colombia ; postcards, recipe books, daily planners from Spain; Hindi translations of poems by Gabriela Mistral (Nobel laureate for literature)or little flags from Ecuador. For a change we stepped into the shoes of our students and even posed to click photographs! We also collected a host of valuable information to enrich our theme of the year at School, Latin America.
The Mario Miranda Exhibition was a wonderful combination of art and fun portraying the artist's love for Spain, a lovely country steeped in romance & history. The overall vibrancy of the Spanish bonanza rubbed itself on us uplifting our spirits & each one of us returned with a new window opened to our world vision.
