CBSE teacher Workshop on Competency-Based Education

A two-day workshop (30th  and 31st August 2024)  was held by CBSE at Sachdeva Global School, Sector 18, Dwarka on competency-based education. Approximately 40 teachers from Delhi schools participated in the workshop. Ms Yogeshwari represented our School.

The workshop commenced with an engaging activity, a variation of Chinese whispers, which set the tone for an interactive and immersive experience. Ms Deepti Sharma and Ms Muninder Pal Kaur were the resource persons from CBSE, who led the workshop, providing valuable insights into competency-based education.

Ms Sharma and Ms Muninder emphasised the significance of learning outcomes and SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals in teaching. She encouraged teachers to keep these goals in mind while planning and delivering their lessons. Additionally, they explained the methodology of teaching and the concept of adjoining competency-based learning.

The workshop also focused on essential 21st-century skills, including the 4Cs (Critical thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity) and IMT (Information, Media, and Technology). Ms Sharma highlighted the importance of integrating these skills into teaching practices to prepare students for future challenges.

The workshop concluded with a crucial discussion on promoting mental health and well being among students, highlighting the importance of teacher support and strategies to foster a positive learning environment.

The workshop provided a platform for teachers to share experiences, exchange ideas, and learn from each other. Participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm, equipped to implement competency-based education in their classrooms.
