CBSE Teacher workshop-'Storytelling as a Pedagogy for Teachers'

A CBSE CBP was hosted at The Indian School on 24 Feb 2025 for teachers on "Storytelling as Pedagogy", which proved to be a highly engaging and interactive experience. The resource persons for the workshop were Ms Tania Joshi, Principal, The Indian School, and Dr Rohit Mehra, Principal, Diwan Singh Memorial Public School, Bulandshahr. The session, attended by 50 teachers of the our School, delved into storytelling as a methodology for creating interactive classrooms and providing participants with valuable insights and strategies to enhance their teaching practices. 

The erudite session aimed to explore the potential of storytelling as an effective teaching strategy to engage students, enhance learning, and develop critical thinking and creativity. 

The session explored the different types of storytelling, elements of storytelling as a pedagogy, teaching subjects with storytelling and incorporating storytelling in the classroom. 

The teachers were introduced to the various benefits of using storytelling, such as improving student engagement, aiding comprehension, fostering empathy and developing imagination skills. 

The workshop covered how storytelling must be used it in lesson plans. The workshop featured practical techniques like personal narratives, interactive storytelling, and visual storytelling through multimedia. Teachers participated in activities including a "Story Circle" which was a group activity where groups of five teachers  collaboratively composed short stories and another activity to create lesson plans, integrating stories. 

The workshop concluded with a reflection session where teachers recapitulated on what had been learnt. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many teachers eager to integrate storytelling into their classrooms. Overall, the workshop was a success, providing valuable insights into the power of stories in the learning process.

It was an inspiring session that left participants motivated to experiment with storytelling in their classrooms. The teachers participated enthusiastically, actively contributing to the discussions and activities, and left the workshop equipped with innovative ideas to integrate storytelling into their classrooms.
