Christmas carnival in Pre-School

Christmas brings cheer and love. This year the festival was celebrated virtually, albeit with the same fervour, spreading the message of love and joy among our young Indianites. Our children were ushered to exhibit their creativity as they soaked in the spirit of Christmas. Craft activities were planned for the young Pre-schoolers in a way that it kept the little ones engaged through the week. It had them very delighted as they enjoy trying to do things independently.

On 9 December, 2021, a special activity, Name your Snowman was conducted in class, where each child assembled a snowman with paper cut-outs.

Decorating the Christmas tree is a time tested activity that greatly helps strengthen eye-hand coordination and sharpen the fine motor skills. It develops creative, aesthetic and cognitive skills too. To enhance the creative skills of our little ones, this activity was conducted on 17 December, 2021 in a unique way. The children used recycled material and natural products to make their special personal Christmas tree.

Suhani Sehgal of Pre-School Kokab made a Christmas tree using disposable containers, Delisha used old newspaper, Yuvan used pasta, Shivansh used yarn and Mahira used broomsticks as materials for the activity. Aayra Agarwal of Pre-School Capella used discarded pistachios shells, Kriyesha Anand used paper cups, potato peels, pipe cleaner, dishwasher foam, Vedant Gupta used paper napkin, empty tealights, Anvi Praksh used old CDs and Piramathi used old newspaper for his creation.

Abdul Ahad Qureshi of Pre-School Delphini made his tree with old magazines and foil paper, Rudransh Tiwari used old newspaper and buttons, Anshika Srivastava used egg trays and Mohd. Zayaan used pencil shavings to make their Christmas trees. Diya of Pre-School Hercule used almond peels to make her tree. Yuvaan made use of a Crunchies' box , Dishita used shopping bags, Aarav Bhutani used old laces and pom poms to make their Christmas trees. Sarvagya Pal of Pre-School Agena made use of old bottles and Mayank Naagar used paper cups to make their personal Christmas trees.

For decorating the tree, the children were taught to make ornaments like santa, angels and bells using origami and pastel sheets. During game time, a Christmas quiz was conducted for our Pre-schoolers which induced a lot of excitement and enthusiasm amongst the children.

On 24 December, 2021 a Dress and Tell activity was conducted in the classes wherein children came dressed as Christmas symbols. Suhani Sehgal of PS Kokab came dressed as Santa and she conveyed the message that anyone could become Santa for needy people. Geshna presented herself as Rudolph the reindeer and said, " I look different but I help Santa, I guide him about his way. So we are each special in our own ways."

Anvi from PS Capella came dressed as candy cane, Aaradhya as an angel, Gunmay as the snowman and Rajvansh as Rudolph. Anika Sharma of PS Delphini came dressed as the guiding star, Grithik Kumar Dogra was a reindeer, Enaya Gupta was an angel, Kanav Bharal the snowman and Rudransh Tiwari and Taran Dudani as Santa. Aavya and Kinza of PS Hercule came dressed as Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, Pranavi as an angel and Yuvaan Nichaal as Santa. Roohani Arora of PS Agena was Santa and Dhaani as a Christmas tree.

Happiness all around knew no bounds when the children made Christmas bites using Marie biscuits, chocolate syrup and gems. Keeping in mind our Sanskara syllabus, the teachers told the children to serve the cookies to their elders at home before serving themselves. The children sang carols tapping their feet in sheer joy.
