Citizenship Assembly

The Citizenship Assembly was conducted on 25th November 2016 in the auditorium. In attendance were Ms. Madhavi Divan, Member of the Governing Board and the spirit behind the Citizenship Programme, Ms. Tania Joshi, Principal, Dr. Anu Singh, Vice- Principal, Ms. Sukhmeen Cheema, Vice-Principal, Ms. Neena Maini, Head Mistress (Primary), Ms. Bavleen - Head Teacher (Pre-Primary), Ms. Sangeeta Aswani, Coordinator-Citizenship Programme, parents of the award winners, students from a few sections of class 5 and their teachers.

The assembly was intentioned to share the efforts and achievements of the Citizenship Programme with the rest of School.

Class V put up a delightful presentation on the occasion the audience, coordinated by Hrdya Jain, who kept everyone abreast of the events taking place in the show. Her narration was clear and enthusiastic and she was a pleasure to listen to.

The show began with a skit based on Yoga. It was written by Yahvi Rishi of VD. Important aspects about Yoga were explained and emphasised by the skit. Some of the participants in the skit were Saurabh Gupta, Nyasa Srivastava, Fariyah Sughra, Pavani Agarwal, Dhruv Rahi and Cheerayu Saha. A few yoga exercises were also demonstrated to the audience by Hiya Agarwal, Bharti Gupta, Parth Tara, Zunnaira, Kamya, Ishaan and Sajel. The asanas were performed extremely accurately, some of these being, the Ustrasana, Dhanurasana, Vajrasana, Vrikshasana or the tree pose, Bhujungasana or the snake pose, Padmasana or lotus pose and Matsyasana or the fish pose.

Lending her views on the topic of global degradation was Vanshita Sethi of class IX E, who spoke about her experiences as School Ambassador of the initiative Care for Air. To reinforce the need to keep our environment clean, a short nukkad natak was also presented by the students of class V. Antariksh Nair, Raghav Gupta, Rudra Punj, Mannsi Agarwal, Kushara, Kovid Sharma, Suhaan Midha, Adamya Saxena, Avantika Nayyar, Atiksh Jain, Devansh Rajoria, Yahvi Rishi, Kabir Mongia and Akshita put up a remarkable performance and their message about the importance of a clean environment to ensure our well-being was aptly conveyed.

After the performances, students and teachers who had contributed extensively to the Citizenship Programme through the year, were honoured with certificates. The names of the awardees were: Awards for Teachers 1) Ms. Sandhya Bhateja and Dr. Tushar Alekar for their dedicated efforts and contributions to the Spot Fix Programme 2) Dr. Smriti Singh and Ms. Nausheen Warsi for conducting a Vocational Training Programme at Palna. 3) Ms. Prakriti Patnaik and Mr. Arko Singh for their contribution to the Shram Daan products. 4) Ms. Rukmini Thampi, Ms. Yashika and Ms. Rupinder Kaur for their invaluable contribution across all aspects of the Citizenship Programme.

Awards for Students Care for Air Vanshita Sethi and Siddhant Sood for performing their role as ambassadors of the Care for Air initiative with dedication Spotfix Hargun Singh, Dhruv Arora, Rohnit Puri and Yashpal Basoya for their efforts in the Spotfix Programme

Kaveri Dhuria, Mitali Nanda, Mirambika Mukherjee, Sirjan Kaur, Anisha Mathur, Mehek Sachdeva, Gauri Bassi, Jasnoor Kaur, and Harshita Singhal for planning and conducting vocational training workshops at Palna.

Nukkad-Natak Chitrak Kala, Shirish Kumar, Devansh Rajoria, Antariksh Nair, Yahvi Rishi, Avantika Nayyar, Atilsh Jain, Harsh Gupta and Aditya Matta for putting up regular shows for community awareness.

To conclude the occasion, Ms. Madhavi Divan addressed the gathering and gave some valuable advice to the students. This was followed by a vote of thanks by Ms. Sangeeta Aswani and the Citizenship anthem.
