Class 4 participates in a science event
“Science is not just a subject we learn, but a way of thinking, exploring, and improving the world around us.”
4 passionate Indianites of class IV — Atiksh Gupta, Gurkirat Kaur, Atharv Singh, and Aarjav Gupta — were selected to participate in Ignited Minds 2026, an inspiring scientific event hosted by St. Mary’s School, Safdarjung Enclave on 13 February 2026. The central theme, “Living with Science,” encouraged students to explore how science seamlessly blends with everyday life.
Preparations began with great enthusiasm as students immersed themselves in research and discussions. They explored the presence of science in daily routines, particularly in food preparation and festive practices. During an engaging sensory activity, the students tasted and identified ingredients used in various healthy smoothies and juices, sharpening their observation and analytical skills. They then carefully recorded their findings on worksheets, reflecting thoughtful scientific inquiry.
The team was assigned the topic Bio Filters, through which they explored the concept of natural water purification and the significance of clean water in everyday living. In the school science laboratory, the students designed and constructed a simple water filtration model using natural materials such as sand, gravel, and charcoal. This hands'-on experiment enabled them to observe how layered filtration effectively removes impurities from water.
To present their learning creatively, the students prepared informative flipbooks illustrating the process, materials used, and the science behind bio-filtration. Each participant confidently showcased their model, demonstrating clarity of thought, teamwork, creativity, and strong communication skills.
Overall, the experience proved to be enriching and transformative. It helped students meaningfully connect scientific concepts with real-life applications, truly reflecting the spirit of Ignited Minds — inspiring curiosity, innovation, and a lifelong love for science.
