Film Festival for Middle School
This year we held a Film Festival on 1st and 2nd November, 2021 for classes VI-VIII via Google Meet. It was aimed Film at helping to improve English communication and comprehension skills. Besides this when children are exposed to unfamiliar cultures and life lessons, it stretches the horizons of their minds. Films are the most effective means to prepare students to overcome barriers like culture, traditions and language.
On 1st November, 'Yes Day' was showcased. 'Yes Day' is a 2021 American comedy-drama film, directed by Miguel Arteta, with screenplay and screen story by Justin Malen It is based upon the children's book by the same name by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld.
On 2nd November, 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' was showcased, a 2006 Holocaust novel by Irish novelist, John Boyne. Eleven million copies of the novel have been sold around the world. The movie sensitises kids about agony and anguish caused by the holocaust.

While 'Yes Day' was a super fun movie about parents giving their children a 'Yes Day' with some ground rules, 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' was a hard hitting movie about finding friendship in the darkest of places.
The Film Festival was very well received by students and was an innovative group activity to engage them.
