Gloria Humanitas - inter school event

This annual Humanities cum Social Science inter-school competition was held on 16th July, 2016 at Gyan Bharati School, Saket. The theme of the competition was Satguru Nanak Pargataya; Miti Dhund Jag Chanan Hoya.

The event saw the participation of 13 schools of Delhi such as DPS R K Puram, Springdales School Dhaula Kuan, Amrita Vidyalayam, Sadhu Vaswani School and Ramjas School Pusa Road. Eight students of our school participated in this event.

The programme started with a soulful rendering of the Mool Mantra, Ek Onkar, Satnam by the students of Gyan Bharti School. This was followed by the Aarta composed by the saint Guru Nanak. The students then recited a melodious Shabad composition. Finally, Mr. R.C Shekhar, Director of the Gyan Bharti School, spoke to the participants briefly and motivated them to follow and practice the ever-lasting values of the teachings of Guru Nanak.

Following this, the participants were escorted to their appointed venues. The events were as follows:

Recitation of Shabad: The theme of this event was Shabad from the Gurbani. Two vocalists and two instrumentalists were required to participate in this event. Khushleen Kaur and Prabhav Kapur of class VII and Kavya and Jayant Kumar from Class VI participated in this event. Khushleen and Kavya were the vocalists while Prabhav and Jayant played on the harmonium and tabla respectively. The recitation was evaluated on the basis of:- a) Taal and Laya b) Sur c) Bhaav d) Clarity The time limit of this event was 4 minutes. Mr. Bir Jeet Singh, well-known musician and singer, judged their soulful recitations based on the teachings of Guru Nanak. Amrita Vidyalayam was adjudged the winners in this event while our School secured second position. All the participants were awarded with medals and certificates.

Jigyasa: This quiz was based on subjects relating to the fields of Humanities such as History, Psychology, Political Science and the languages. Some rounds were based on the life and times of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. A written qualifying round was followed by the quiz in which the six best teams competed. The quiz included questions based on audio-visual snippets and a rapid fire round. Saruby Sharma and Divtesh Singh of class XI participated in this event and stood 5th

Art Illustration: The theme of this competition was -Life and Stories of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Prabhsimran Kaur and Lokesh Koli of class X participated in this event. The participants were given a typed story from the life of Guru Nanak which was cut and pasted on a drawing sheet, leaving three blank spaces to be illustrated with art work by the participants. The art work was evaluated on the basis of: a) Creativity b) Innovation in idea c) Execution d) How well the essence of the given Story was illustrated.

Mr. Rajesh Srivastava, acclaimed artist, judged the event. The winners of this event were participants from Ramjas School, Pusa Road and the runners-up were participants from Gyan Bharati School. The time limit was 2 hours.

The participants took a keen interest in all the events and participated enthusiastically.
