Honours at the MTNL Perfect Health Mela

On 25th and 26th October 2016, our School participated in the MTNL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited) Perfect Health Mela. The Mela was organised by HCFI (Heart Care Foundation of India) in partnership with NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council) and MTNL at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi The theme of the Mela was 'One Health'.

A variety of competitions on science model- making, collage- making, poster- making, nukkad natak, yoga, and dance were organised. A number of schools both from within Delhi and the NCR were participating here.

On the first day, 25th October, our students participated in the yoga event, a skit on sensitisation for offering medical support to poor and deprived people, science model/ demonstration, slogan/poster- making and the painting competition.

Khushi Kedia (VIII) stood first in the poster/slogan making competition. There were around 300 students from all over Delhi who participated in this competition. It was an on- the- spot event and the topic was Dengue and Chikanguniya Prevention.

In the science model-demonstration event, Aurshi Singh and Yahvi Rishi, class 5 (Junior) took the 2nd position, Raghuvendra Gulia and Vidit Sharma, class VIII (Middle) took the 3rd position while Gargi Soni and Shweta Singh (XI-Senior) also took the 3rd position. The topic for this was Health and Food Safety.

On 26th October 2016, the middle and senior school students participated in the collage- making competition which was based on the topic Hand Sanitisation. Students from the middle school who participated in this competition were Prithvi Sachdeva (VI), Ishita Wadhwa (VI), Vardan Dev (VII), Sharanya Mushraan (VII), Chanak Dang (VII), Palkin Rana (VII), Vedanshi Sagar (VIII) and Shreya Palit (VIII) while students from the senior category included Prabhsimran Kaur (X), Prakshi Gulati (X), Nitya Soni (X), Sravana Pal (IX), Ifrah Ali (IX), Janis Oberoi (X), Jasmine Kaur (X) and Mehul Tondon (IX).

In the nukkad natak event, our School participated in the senior category. The topic was Drug Abuse and our students highlighted the impact of drugs in society, family and how it hurts the youth. Reputed schools from across Delhi and the NCR participated. In all, around 34 schools showcased their talents.

In the environment (ECO) model/ demonstration event, Gitansh Satija and Sudhanshu Kanwar (X) prepared a working model depicting the relevance and the need for using eco-friendly sources of energy to ensure that our future is secure and Mother Earth is safe. Their model highlighted the concept of Smart City with special emphasis on using non-conventional sources of energy which is truly the need of the hour. In all, around 20 schools participated in this event.

Our School also participated in the western group and the solo dance category. Ayushi Teza (X) came 2nd in this event.

The competitions organized at the Mela provided our children with opportunities to showcase their skills which they did proficiently.
