Interaction for classes 10-12 with a school alumnus, now a digi-tech expert
On 8 August 2024, the fourth day of “Science Week” at The Indian School, the students of classes X, XI, and XII attended a session with Mr Om Naulakha, alumnus of our School (2007-2008 batch). He shared valuable insights into the role of digital technology in business.
The session began with a discussion on the importance of recognising one’s fears and failures. Mr Naulakha took us through his journey after leaving School. As he recounted the setbacks he faced at different stages of his life, students realised that life is full of twists and turns, and nobody has it all "planned out'.
As the session progressed, Mr Naulakha explained how automation, data analysis, and cloud computing are crucial tools in technology. He illustrated, through examples, the stark contrast between the earlier generations and the present one in their use of the internet and digital technology. Technology offers businesses a competitive edge, and he emphasised that sooner or later, every person and company must evolve their methods of working. He noted, that while it is important to limit one’s use of digital technology, it is also essential to expand one's boundaries and continuously learn about innovations and advancements around us.
Drawing from his experience at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Mr Naulakha demonstrated how artificial intelligence can boost sales for brands and optimise their production and manufacturing. He provided valuable advice for students aspiring to enter the technology and business sectors, highlighting the importance of learning, adaptability, and the application of technological innovations to business solutions.
Mr Naulakha emphasised that the key takeaway should be to recognise challenges and work towards resolving them. While technology will play a significant role in growth and innovation, failures are an inevitable part of the journey. Although some may count success as a measure, embracing setbacks as learning opportunities and persevering through difficulties is essential for personal and professional development.
The session concluded with a question-and-answer segment, where Mr Naulakha answered the queries of the students. Overall, it was a highly insightful and engaging session that provided students with valuable perspectives and practical advice.
