Life Mosiac
Tagore International Schools (Vasant Vihar) LIFE MOSIAC was a literary festival held on 17th August, 2016. This year the annual festival turned out to be a multi-disciplinary event with many creative opportunities including poetry, dance, music, non-verbal enactment, flower arrangement and business-pitching. The festival aimed to offer an enriching experience on a common platform to students, to hone their latent creative skills, foster individuality as well as inculcate self-confidence and team spirit.
40 schools participated in this festival which was open to students of grades XI and XII. There were four events and each student was allowed to participate in only a single event. The first event was A Flowery Tale where two participants had to weave a story using a flower arrangement. The arrangement had to be a combination of fresh and dry flowers with foliage. The topic was given on the spot and was related to titles of popular non-fictional books. The second event was Vers-e-Style which involved poetry recitation and innovation. The poem could be selected from any genre since the 19th century. It involved the participation of three students, wherein 2 had to recite a poem in any innovative form and the third could elucidate the narrative through any aesthetic form such as sketching, painting, dancing or instrumental music.

The third event was Sounds of Silence, a non-verbal group enactment which involved the participation of 6-8 students. It wasnt mime but had to be a non-verbal presentation. The piece to be represented had to be an interpretation or an adaptation of a fable or a tale. Participants had to bring their own musical instruments and props. The last event was Pitchers.Comm where two participants had to prepare a short presentation (pitch) on a business model relating to a commercial product or service. The pitch had to focus on four key areas: product/service design and suitable tagline, price determination through market analysis, incentive to make it lucrative for investors and profit margin. The topic was assigned on the spot to the teams.
Our students were extremely excited to participate in this wide array of events. Preparations started much in advance. Even though the topics for 2 events were given on the spot, nevertheless, students did the necessary homework required for such events. They were glad to be a part of such a big festival which was a wonderful enrichment opportunity.
