Various issues came up for discussion.
a) NPSC plans to start Strategic Leadership programmes for Principals of CBSE schools all over India. The Chairman said the NPSC can take this initiative and invited ideas for the programme.
b) Dr. DK Pandey, Principal NC Jindal School requested the Chair to take up the matter of excessive interference of government authorities; like the latest being the case of asking for an escort on school buses , besides additional precautions for the security of all lady staff at schools etc. He also commented on how every time something went wrong anywhere school Principals and teachers are held responsible. Most members agreed and requested the Chairman to send a signed petition to the CM and CBSE Chairman and if possible have a representative meet the CM.
c) Mrs. Annie Koshi, Principal, St. Mary's School said that last- minute decisions of CBSE to introduce or modify policies create a lot of problems for students as well as schools. She was supported by nearly all principals. CBSE should have a well-structured and designed plan for all initiatives it takes, as in the case of PSA (Problem Solving Assessment), Open Book Exams, change of syllabus etc.
d) Introduction of new elective subjects was another issue of discussion. A number of new subjects were being offered by CBSE at +2 level from the current year but there is confusion with regard to is sure curriculum, qualifications required for the teacher and the subject's utility for undergraduate courses.
The Chairman was requested to form a committee to look into all these matters and have a meeting with CBSE chairman to discuss these matters. The Chairman agreed to this and said that it would be done.
