Pre-primary classes commemorate Republic Day, 30 January 2012

The Pre-primary collected in the basketball courts' area for a special assembly for Republic Day on 30 January. The morning was bright with a gentle breeze lifting the the bunched orange, green and white gas balloons readied for the occasion. Pre-school assembled in crisp Gandhi caps with one or another national symbol pinned on, as the Pre-primary presented a short but smart march-past. They also sang a string of patriotic songs as they stood as a choir. The teachers were delighted that no prompting was needed for the singing! The songs and their rhythm seem to have provided the pulse! The assembly proceeded with the teachers asking questions to arouse interaction and enquiry on matters related to basic civics. They asked how many had watched the Republic Day Parade and what they'd liked best. A vigorous and unanimous choice placed the Army Signal contingent showcasing trick-riding as tops! It was extremely heartening that the children were energetic with answers especially as they had been asked to watch the parade either on television if not at Rajpath. 2 students from each class presented a few lines on our national symbols like the significance of the colours in the national flag, the national animal, namely the Tiger and how it has become an endangered species, our national sport, hockey etc. Principal ma'am concluded the joyous assembly by releasing the tri-coloured balloons before everyone stood to attention for the national anthem.
