Pre-Primary participates in Self Discovery, April, 2012

The main focus of most childrens education is basic knowledge and skills at our level, such as reading, writing etc. But while that kind of learning is very important to a child's future educational prospects and ability to navigate the world, it is also critical to create space for self-discovery. Infact we believe Self-Discovery is the starting point for all education.

We chat about how children love to look at themselves in the mirror. Drawing themselves? (who better to do this than themselves?). We thought wed give the children a slightly different experience. It was a chance to have a good look at themselves in the mirror and think about their face parts and their features and draw on a sheet of paper even if their drawings didnt perfectly reflect what they look like. Children also were asked to draw their family on the reverse of the same drawing sheet.

As told by Ms. Payal Kukreja, teacher.
