The workshop held on 26 August, 2015 in the AV Room was attended by students of classes 8, 9 and 10 alongwith Ms. S. Aswani and Ms. Poorvi Mehta.
Students were shown a PPT on the importance of Cleanliness, relating it to Gandhiji’s ideology and the Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan. There was a question/answer session on why it is so difficult to keep our cities clean and why the mindset has not changed. Through a video, children were shown a dustbin in Europe that would whistle each time someone threw garbage in it, thereby creating a fun-effect and at the same time create awareness on throwing garbage inside a bin instead of around it! Another example was a dustbin especially for glass bottles projected as a video game; it had 5 slots and a light above every slot. When the light came on, you would put the bottle into that slot and collect points. The machine would also make funsounds like a slot machine!
The children were asked to give in their ideas on how we could promote cleanliness and the right use of garbage bins by logging on to the website named and submitting their entries there. The prizes included a Rs. 10 lakh and a Rs. 5 lakh scholarship as well as other attractive prizes.
