A counselling session for class 12 with a specialist
How to cope with Anxiety during the Pandemic 2020 for class 12 (2019-20)
On 17 May 2020, students of the Indian School, who are graduating this year, along with theirparents, attended a virtual online conference with well known counsellor, Ms. Meenu Arora.
Ms. Arora is a noted psychologist who specialises in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT), Stress Management and Adolescent Counseling. She has over 22 years of experience and gave insightful guidance to our students who are in the midst of their board exams which are incomplete due to the in present pandemic.
The session included a presentation where Ms. Meenu explained how it is quite ordinary forstudents to feel helpless and anxious, which in turn hampers concentration and clarity.
Therefore, to counter such negative thoughts, she introduced the students to some wonderfulstrategies like the power of the subconscious mind, how to make a routine and how to setrealistic targets to successfully achieve them.
She also asked the students to be proactive rather than reactive, implying that one must be in control of ones thoughts and actions and not find excuses to deviate and avoid the work required.
A question-answer session allowed the parents and students to ask Ms. Arora about universities and career guidance.
The students were happy and said that they look forward to more similar sessions.
