Annual Recognition Day Pre-primary, March 2011-12

Annual Recognition Day, Pre-primary, 2011-12. Never mistake knowledge for wisdom. One helps you to make a living, the other helps you make a life-Sandra Carey The pre-primary department of the Indian School celebrated its annual recognition day on 13 April12 in the School Foundation Hall. There were 73 children from Pre-school and Pre-primary who were felicitated on the day for their excellence in various categories, namely Marked Improvement, Spoken English, Full Attendance, Neat Worker, Outstanding Performance, Good Helper and a newly added category Active Participant. The esteemed guests for the day were our Chairperson Mr. Goradia, Principal, Mrs Rashi Narula, Vice Principal, Mrs. Tania Joshi and Vice-President, PTA, Mrs. Sangeeta Aswani. The event began with the welcoming of parents of the awardees with handcrafted badges. As the parents settled into their seats, Head Teacher, Mrs. Viji Vasudev welcomed them warmly. She congratulated the parents for giving their children an opportunity to succeed by their encouragement and time and not by material reward alone. The parents were also offered appreciation for collaborating enthusiastically in stretching the horizons of the children by exposing them to diverse age- appropriate variety. The parents were implored to continue their effort to limit passivity and promote activity by engaging the child in even household work they may be doing, for instance setting up the dinner table, washing the car etc. Mrs. Vasudev also emphasized, how, in the growing years of a child his/her parents are the role models and children quickly absorb and assimilate what they observe. So parents must always exercise caution in their conduct in the company of their children. The Pre-primary choir group then sang for the audience, thanking God for their wonderful parents. In the meanwhile their classmates readied to receive their awards. The parents needless to mention, were ecstatic to be seeing their littlest ones taking honours so early in their lives! The programme ended with the school song sung by the awardees and their teachers. Parents too sang along in their affectionate identification. . The recognition ceremony had indeed been a special occasion for us all, leaving us introspecting It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that they are difficult. And we felt assured. Indeed, our children had accomplished! As reported by Ms. Shalini Grover, Teacher.
