Anveshan, 2012, an inter-school science and technology competition

Our School participated in Anveshan 2012 hosted by Gyan Bharati School, Saket on 21 April, 2012. An annual event, it is organised as a science and technology festival. Other participant schools were Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, CRPF, Rohini, St. Marys School, Blue Bells, Amity International, Saket, Ahlcon Public School, Bal Bharati Public School, Springdales, Air Force Bal Bharati, Apeejay, Sheikh Sarai, Father Agnel, Mothers International, Kulachi Hansraj School, Birla Vidya Niketan and Ramjas, R.K. Puram. Chief Guest at the event was eminent scientist, Dr. Shailendra of the Department of Atomic Energy. The event had many competitions at different levels. Our students enlisted in all the events. Cartoon making on computer had Vamani Gupta of class 5; Poster-making on a scientific concept had Mallika Mukum, class 6; Test your science quotient had Himanshi Saini, class 8 and Saumyaa Saxena, class 7; Web Designing had Anshul Roy, class 9 and Aarsh Bhatia, class 10; the Science Quiz had Nakul Chadha, class 11 and Alakh Sethi, class 12. Cartoon-making had participants creating their favourite cartoons in MS Paint Brush. Our Vamani Gupta chose Doraemon. At poster-making, they were asked to create a poster on Science in everyday life and Mallika Mukum chose the topic, Gravity. At Test your science quotient , the contestants were shown videos based on science concepts and experiments and were asked to write answers to teasers provided. At Web-designing, our School stood first and Ramjas was named runner-up. We were given a variety of images associated with science and were asked to build a website using them. We would be judged on how innovative a shape and structure we could offer. At the science quiz, there were 2 rounds. First was the written MCQ exam wherein 8 schools qualified of which our school was one. In the second stage, there were 4 rounds. Questions based on scientific concepts of the level of classes 11 and 12 were posed alongwith audio and video clippings. The last round was a rapid-fire round, in which each team had to answer 10 questions within a time limit. Our School took third position here! As filed by accompanying teacher, Ms. Shweta Aggarwal.
