Art Camp at Mongrace Montessori

Students from The Indian School participated in the Une Fete Annuele, an art workshop, held at the Mongrace Montessori House in Vasant Vihar. on 7th October 2015. The event commenced with the Principal Ms. Kamini Hola introducing the audience to the significance of the fete, and inviting the young artists to light the ceremonial lamp. Well known artists, Minakshi Dheeman and Sunil Dutt Mamgain were present. Art curator Ms. Poonam Singh Kohli and artists Dinesh Vedwal, Anju Koli and Kusum Dhama also graced the event. Students who were participating were divided into groups and each group was placed under a celebrated artist. Among the two age groups 5-7 years and 8-10 years, the TIS children participated in both categories. Each artist was to train and help a certain number of participants. The children were grouped with their teachers and handed over to an artist for a short training session. Each child painted/coloured a cartridge sheet under the guidance of the leader artist ( in the artist's style). One group did cartoon characters, another abstracts; another worked with landscapes and yet another crafted print motifs. Each painting was autographed by the respective artist. Each painting was labeled with the child's and the artist's name. 3 best entries from group 1 and group 2 were awarded a certificate of honour and a prize . Param Kaushik of 4C was awarded a certificate of honour. Our children were specially appreciated for their discipline. All the participants were given a certificate of participation and a small gift containing a box of plastic colours, a pencil, an eraser and a bar of chocolates. Other schools that participated were The Foundation School, Presidium School, D.P.S Vasant Vihar, D.A.V Vasant Vihar, Army Public School and G.D Goenka. The workshop was a good learning experience for students and the accompanying teacher. Watching the artists teaching their own styles was an amazing experience. Each child was given due recognition as there were no prizes or winners. A refreshing learning experience.
