CBSE capacity building programme for teachers.
On 22 February, 2013 I had the privilege of attending the CBSE capacity building programme for teachers on Life Skills, Attitudes, Values, Health and Wellbeing. The whole experience was very enlightening and extremey educative.
Dr. Jitendra Nagpal, Director, Expressions India, introduced the session in the context of the CCE, the latter's strengths and weaknesses and how it has progressed since initiation. We teachers articulated our difficulties especially with regard to evaluation parameters as also applauded the way it has sought to elevate the learning process in India.
The workshop was then carried forward by Drs. Usha Anand and Poojashivam who spoke on various topics like life skills, attitudes, values, health and wellbeing. They also shared their thoughts on how to judge students carefully on these parameters .The session was made even more interesting when games were incorporated as exercises to convey concepts. This was especially useful for teaching us better judging of abilities in students, abilities like problem- solving , decision- making , critical and creative thinking , attentiveness , health, fitness etc.
In the latter half of the day, health and wellness issues were discussed in greater detail before the programme closed with the distribution of participation certificates and the rendering of a goodwill song by the host School- choir.
