Citizenship Programme : Buddy Learning Activity at neighbourhood MCD SCHOOL

On 10th May 2022, we resumed our activity at the nearby MCD school when 10 students of class 9 conducted a lesson on breathing exercises and meditation for the children there.

Ms Jayanti Dwivedi and Ms Sangeeta Aswani accompanied the students to the venue. The activity started with a brief introduction to The Citizenship Programme. This was followed by some simple breathing exercises. They were told about how this simple activity can help focus and keep the mind calm and control anger. All the children took turns to share examples of what makes them angry and happy. Our students went on to explain that happiness is a state of mind and breathing correctly is one way of maintaining a happy state of mind.

The students of the MCD school felt a difference after a few rounds of the breathing exercises and a monitor was appointed from every class to conduct these exercises every morning before school commences. The children at the MCD school were also taught a few simple English words with their meanings eg., happiness, breathe, respect, smile, and honesty and asked to apply these words in sentences.
