Citizenship Programme initiative- Joint assembly by our School and The American Embassy School

In December 2017, The Citizenship Programme was approached by the Indian Studies Department of The American Embassy School (AES) to kick off the opening assembly of their ANNUAL INDIA WEEK, with a jointly put up assembly.

On 6th February 2018, 24 children and 3 teachers went to the American Embassy School for a rehearsal of our performance to be staged on 9th February. The opening assembly included a short skit on 4 heritage monuments of India, a dance on the theme, Say no to plastic and a song on the importance of recycling.

On 9th February 2018, 25 students of classes 4,5,8 and 9 and three teachers set off at 7 am for The American Embassy School and our students confidently performed to an audience of over 600 students/teachers/parents. We were warmly felicitated.

After the show, some of our teachers and students stayed back to conduct a workshop with their children scheduled for 9/14/15th February where our students would teach the host school students a song and dance based on environment which the latter would perform at the closing assembly on the 16th. 3 children conducted the training on the 14th, 8 children on the 15th and 7 children jointly performed on the 16th at the closing assembly with students of class 2 of TAES. The closing assembly was a combination of a song called titled I AM A TREE and a dance on the CHIPKO movement.

This is the first time that AES has partnered with an Indian school and it was truly an enriching experience for both. Alas, due to security reasons, photography was not permitted.
