Class 2 engages online with peers at an Indonesian school

On 21.1.25, the students of class 2A, along with music teacher Mr Sanjeev Choudhary, engaged in a Skype classroom with peers at an Indonesian school, the SDN Public Primary School in Sukajadi, Indonesia.
The Skype session commenced with an enlightening introduction to the basics of Hindustani music, emphasising the significance of the 'swaras' for the Indonesian participants. Our group elaborated upon the two main forms of Hindustani music: classical music and light music. Under classical music, we showcased the exquisite example of Raga Bhairav, traditionally performed in the morning. Under light music, we discussed an array of genres, including folk songs, film songs, patriotic songs, bhajans, and ghazals.
The Indianities mesmerised their Indonisian counterparts by the wonderful rendition of a charming folk song and a patriotic song. Nita Yahuja of class 8 enthralled the audience with a classical Raga Bhairav performance, which included a captivating 'bandish'.
Srimoyee, a talented student of class 2, presented a soulful rendition of the timeless Tagore song, "Ekla Chalo". Advait Dube and Piyush Kumar mesmerised everyone with their harmonium and tabla performance, as they sang the folk song "Kajri".
The students of SDG School presented an inspiring song based on an SDG Goal related to cleanliness and sanitation. The children showcased their musical talent by performing on various instruments, leaving their Indian.audience in awe.
The enriching session concluded with “Sare Jahan Se Acha” featuring the class 2 choir creating a symphony of unity and pride.
The Skype classroom was very educative and enjoyable. The participants thoroughly appreciated the cultural exchange and the opportunity to learn about Hindustani music. This interactive session not only enhanced a cultural understanding but also provided a platform for showcasing young talent. The performances were spectacular, leaving a lasting impression on everyone involved.
