Class 7 shares its Jal Itihaas experience

On 19 February 2025, we had the privilege of welcoming Ms Shivani from the Jal Itihaas Team at our School. During the assembly, the class 7 students captivated the audience with an engaging Water Talk Show, where they shared their enriching experiences with the activities outlined in the Jal Itihaas booklet.

The students began by recounting their educational and insightful trip to Agrasen ki Baoli, a historic stepwell in New Delhi. Additionally, they highlighted their visit to the Sadiq Nagar colony, where they actively participated in a community outreach campaign, raising awareness about the critical importance of saving water.

Ms Shivani’s inspiring talk further reinforced the students’ commitment to water conservation. She encouraged them to be more mindful of their daily water usage and urged them to inspire their families to adopt habits that help reduce water wastage. Through her insights, the students gained valuable knowledge about Indian rivers, historical stepwells around Delhi, and the traditional water conservation practices that have been passed down through generations.

One of the key messages that Ms Shivani shared was the importance of avoiding packaged water to combat the growing issue of single-use plastic, which has a detrimental impact on the environment. She emphasised how small actions, like reducing plastic waste, can make a significant difference in protecting our natural resources.

The Jal Itihaas Programme serves as a vital platform for helping students understand the essential role of water in sustaining all life on Earth. It has sparked a sense of responsibility and urgency among the students, inspiring them to take conscious steps toward preserving this invaluable resource for future generations.
