Class 9 visits National Science Library during Library Week
On October 30, 2023, a group of 47 children of class 9, accompanied by two teachers, Ms Monika, and Ms. Kanika Ralhan, visited the National Science Library as part of Library Week and the Student Scientist Connect Programme. The event was held in the Seminar Hall of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research- National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) on Dr KS Krishnan Marg, Pusa, New Delhi.
The visit to the National Science Library was intended to introduce pupils to the world of science books and research resources. The students were given a guided tour of the library, where they were able to peruse an extensive collection of scientific periodicals, books, and research materials. This exposure gave them a taste of the tremendous knowledge available in the realm of science.
Following the library tour, a quiz was held in the Seminar Hall. Students were encouraged to demonstrate their knowledge and critical thinking skills during this session. The quiz addressed a variety of scientific topics and required pupils to think quickly on their feet.
Students were also given science publications as part of the initiative. These journals were invaluable resources for furthering the understanding of scientific matters. These included articles about recent discoveries, developments, and scientific advances to help children develop a love of science and a sense of curiosity.
During this event, students who excelled in the quiz received prizes and certificates of appreciation were distributed to all pupils. This recognition stimulated pupils and encouraged them to continue their search of scientific knowledge. It was a successful and instructive event that contributed to the overall growth of students.
