Classes 1C and 1 engage with peers in a Japanese school

The students of class 1C and 1 D accompanied by their teacher, Ms Priya Kulkarni, engaged in an online interactive session with Ms Yasuyo and her students at the Toko Gakuen Elementary School in Tokyo, on 11 November, 2022 from 8:15 am to 9 am IST.

Post greetings in Japanese, the Mystery Skype session saw the virtual visitors guess the host country based on clues by our young Rajsri Mishra. The latter hinted that the PM of the host country is Mr Narendra Modi, Yoga has its origin in our country and so on. The young Japanese students were quick to catch on and soon guessed that they were interacting with peers based in India!

After this exciting ice-breaker, the class I C students introduced their Japanese counterparts to the Indian national symbols and famous sites through a PowerPoint presentation. Rubaani introduced the Red Fort, Atiksh Gupta spoke about India Gate, Anika Kaushal on the Lotus Temple and Meghna spoke about the Qutab Minar.

The Japanese counterparts were keen on learning about Indias rich cultural heritage. On their part, they discussed the beauty of the famous cherry blossoms of Japan. They even taught our children to say hello Konnichiva in Japanese.

Our little curious learners were thrilled on being given this opportunity as the session gave them virtual wings to fly to a distant place and learn about the culture and ethnicities there.
