Class 8 visit the School eco park

On 4th August 2018, students of class 8 visited the School eco park. It was a lesson in an outdoor classroom, as it were!

As we reached our destination, the clouds drifted across a clear blue sky making the freshly washed, lush green plantation all the more beautiful and a welcome change from the crowds of Delhi.

Squeals of pure delight filled the air as the children alighted at the park. The ducks, geese, rabbits, fish and roosters were a treat to watch, pet and even run after!

The vegetable beds were recently sown for the new season and the children lent a hand to sow the seeds that remained for them. They enjoyed planting herbs, mulberry and aloe vera in carefully cut pits, readied in concentric circles. They added some compost in the pits, placed the seeds, covered them with loose soil and gently watered them. The students were able to plant almost 50 tree saplings as well.

The teachers discussed how the seeds and saplings will soon grow as the monsoon has already kicked in and the plants are rejuvenated and ready.

The children then settled down to a snack and a round of painting. Some sketched in pencil, others used crayon and water colours. Each attempted to capture an image of the park they best liked. Some drew the animals, others the foliage. There was time for free play too.

The picturesque spot was something to marvel about. The Aravallis lined up on one side in the distance and the air was fragrant with freshness in a landscape of tranquility.

The children came back with magical memories.
