Classes 9-11 participate in National Space Day
On 23rd August 2025, ISRO celebrated the 2nd National Space Day with the inspiring theme "Aryabhatta to Gaganyatri: Ancient Wisdom to Infinite Possibilities" at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan
A group of 22 students of classes 9 to 11 of both, The Indian School and The Indian School-Second Shift, along with three teachers — Ms Aakshika Verma, Mr Mohd Abuzar, and Mr Karmendra — participated in this prestigious national event.
The event was graced by several eminent personalities including Dr Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, and Minister of State (Space), and Dr V. Narayanan, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
A major highlight of the day was the interaction with India’s four astronauts selected for the Gaganyaan mission — Mr Subhanshu Shukla, Mr Ajit Krishnan, Mr Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair, and Mr Angad Pratap. The astronauts, all highly experienced IAF pilots, shared their personal journeys and insights, which left the students inspired and awestruck.
Adding to the significance of the event, a video message from Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, was broadcast, highlighting India’s ambitious plans for the future of its space programme. The students had an opportunity to witness a captivating Space Exhibition, showcasing technological achievements and innovations by ISRO and its collaborators.
The celebration also featured a series of documentary presentations, including a video on India’s achievements in space since National Space Day 2024 and highlights of zonal events held across the country during NSPD 2025. Another key moment was a video screening of the National Meet 2.0, followed by the ceremonial handing over of its outcome report to the Hon’ble Minister of State (Space) by the Secretary of the Department of Space. Likewise, the outcome report of Chintan Shivir 2025 was also formally presented.
The event included a felicitation ceremony honouring the Hon’ble Minister of State (Space) for his contribution to India’s space advancement. Furthermore, he awarded prizes to the winners of the Robotics' Challenge and the Bhartiya Antariksh Hackathon, recognising young talent in space-related innovation and technology.
This enriching experience not only gave students a unique opportunity to witness the progress of India’s space programme but also motivated them to explore careers in science, technology, and research. It was truly a memorable and inspirational day for everyone involved.
