DOE workshop on the NEP 2020 and other matters

The Directorate of Education, South district, organised a Capacity Building Workshop titled 'To achieve Zero Grievance Target and for Collaboration on 22 February 2023 at Amity International School, Pushp Vihar. The session was organised for the Principals/HOS of private and government schools of the South District. Principal of The Indian School and The Indian School Second Shift, Ms Tania Joshi along with her colleagues, Mr Dharmender Laur, Ms Bharti Bedi and Ms Anjum Tandon attended the workshop.

Mr Himanshu Gupta, Director of Education, graced the session as chief guest. Other special guests included Ms Nandini Maharaj, Additional Director of Education, Dr (Mr) Ashok Kumar Tyagi, Deputy Director of Education (South), Dr (Mr) Jai Kishan, Deputy Director of Education Zone 23 and Shri Ganesh Prasad, Deputy Director of Education Zone 24. Ms Anju from Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya, Vasant Kunj was the resource person for the day.

After an inaugural address by the chief guest, the session commenced with a meditation activity. The spiritual song Anaadi Ananta by Kailash Kher energised the audience.

The discussion on the National Education Policy 2020 and its vision to transform the education system commenced. All the heads of schools were encouraged to form an NEP Cell. The importance of integrating and executing other projects like the Happiness, Entrepreneurship and Deshbhakti curricula were also discussed.

Mr Himanshu Gupta hinted at a future collaboration between private and government schools to make Delhi the 'Lighthouse of Education'. Schools across Delhi must collaborate and share their teaching-learning methods and best practices, he said.

Along with providing students with access to quality education, the goal of every school head/educator is to develop holistic personalities and produce independent minded adults. The skills imparted need to be realigned by the requirements of the 21st century so that instead of being job seekers, the students become job creators.

Other topics discussed were How to reduce litigation?, the RTE Act, Transport Safety, EWS/DG/CWSN/Orphan/Transgender admissions and their documentation guidelines.

The session concluded with a question-and-answer round by Dr (Mr) Ashok Kumar Tyagi. He addressed queries related to Long absenteeism, Covid orphans, Fee defaulters, Fee hike and Document verification for EWS admissions.

The session was indeed a fruitful one as the platform offered first-hand information on the aspects mentioned above.
