Earth Day in the Primary.

Earth Day was marked by several activities conducted at School at the various levels. Class I The students of class I were taken to the school grounds and each child was gifted a sapling in an earthen pot to take care of with the understanding that plants are important and we need to grow and take care of them. The day progressed with the children making badges depicting aHappy and a Sad Earth. The children learnt the reasons for the same, and became aware of the importance of keeping our planet clean and healthy. The children wrote meaningful slogans / messages like save the Earth" "Do not Litter" "Plant trees" "Recycle!" etc and they pledged to uphold the same. The students were also taken to the school grounds and each child was gifted a sapling in an earthen pot to nurture. CLASS III Class III conducted an activity on Collage-making on two topics i.e. Our CRYING MOTHER EARTH and CLEAN GREEN EARTH. The class teachers of each section asked their students WHAT EARTH DAY MEANS TO US". A discussion on what to do and not to do to protect the earth followed. Students were asked to draw the earth as they imagined it, in order to contrast it with the reality of litter left by humans. Students drew the earth of their dreams and the earth littered. They pasted wrappers, broken bangles and other waste material to depict the litter. Some beautiful and creative collages were the result of this activity with catchy slogans reflecting awareness and thought. The theme continued in the assembly by class III D on endangered and extinct animals. Class IV Students of class IV beautifully crafted posters on Save our Earth and presented the same with catchy slogans. Class V Students of class V combined the Earth Day celebration with Citizenship, where they wrote slogans on paper bags to create awareness about using eco-friendly products. Ms. N.
