Exchange with a Nigerian school via video conference

An exchange programme exposes students to people from different cultures, religions, geographic and socio-economic backgrounds. In an interesting Skype session organised by our School with The City of Knowledge Academy in Ogun, Nigeria, children across continents learnt a great deal about each other. The session was organised on 15th November 2016 for children aged 12 to 13 years.

The Indian School initiated the session by introducing it's students. This was followed by the School song, which came in for appreciation by the students in Nigeria. The students of the partner school, City of Knowledge Academy then introduced themselves. Their school is located in a serene suburb of ljebu-ode, Ogun, Nigeria. They shared information about their cuisine, culture, religions followed (Zoroastrianism, Christianity, Islam) and languages spoken.

In response, the Indianites shared information about our countrys different cultures, cuisines, languages and religions. Great curiosity was aroused in our students when the partner students presented a live demonstration on the way they wear their traditional costume! It was flamboyant and very artistic.

Finally, when the time to wrap up approached, the Indianities concluded the session with a beautifully sung Sanskrit shloka by a student of class 7, followed by a short demonstration of Bharatnatyam. The dance was much applauded and some of the Nigerian students even attempted some poses!

The objective of this programme learning by sharing and it seemed to have been achieved this session.
