Felicitation Ceremony at Filmit India, class 11C, 6 February, 2013.

The continuously astonishing and vibrant heritage of India yearns for Back to Heritage by INTACH along with the Helen Hamlyn Trust, U.K which developed Filmit to ignite an interest for heritage amongst the citizens of tomorrow. The young minds were given a brief to capture different facets of their heritage into 3 to 4 minutes of film and were then granted the opportunity to share their creations with their counterparts in the U.K. On the Filmit website.

Students from classes 9-11 captured scintillating images of our heritage in it's different moods. Deepali Dasgupta of 9B showcased the goodness of broken wheat and the tantalising aroma of cardamom in a festive Saurashtran recipe with her film named lappsi. The splendour of the last Mughal monument in Delhi, the Safdarjung tomb was highlighted by Sarthak Surya of 9B. Siddharth Arora of 10C exhibited how Lutyens Delhi has several indigenous varieties of t like the Jamun trees on Rajpath, the Arjun on Janpath, the tamarind for Akbar Road and so on. Deepak kumar and Ahan Ghosh of 10B enlightened us about the significance of the conservation of water through Satpula ,a weir accredited to the reign of Sultan Muhammad Shah Tughlaq. Animesh Bhardwaj of 10B used his movie Nasiruddin Roshan Chirag-e-Delhi Dargah to convey the ideas of the mysticism of Nasiruddin Roshan Chirag-e-Delhi. Ayush Mallik of 10A captured the journey of our own School in adopting the tomb of Firoz Shah Tughlaq. Ishaan Mahendru of 11C used his movie 'Sanskrit, the oldest of the old' to let us know that Sanskrit is the only language which has not changed. Ansh Kumar of 11A documented our cleanliness drive at the Mehrauli Archaeological Park.

Our School has been receiving accolades from Filmit for the last 2 years so our excitement at the Felicitation Ceremony wasn't for nothing! Sonia Singh, NDTVs Editorial Director, Faisal Alkazi, the great mind of children's theatre and Rupin Dang, Managing Director of Wilderness Films India Ltd., graced the occasion .

The students were delighted to receive 2 awards, namely, Best Proactive Film-Preserving our Forgotten Heritage by Ansh Kumar and Best Direction Satpula, the 7 Bridges by Deepak Kumar and Ahan Ghosh. This happiness quadrupled when the entire audience joined our Filmit choir as they sang the celebrated anthem of Gurudev Tagore, " Ekla chalo re. It's message being, that, in case people are indifferent towards preservation and the conservation of heritage, then you be the one to take the lead. Others are bound to follow.
