Garden competition

Gardening is an art that uses flowers and plants as paints and the soil and sky as its canvas.

To showcase gardening skills amongst children , a garden competition was organised at the Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri on 31st January 2017. Five students of classes 8 to 10 of our School participated in this competition. It was later followed by a quiz.

Thematic Garden Display Our students, Aanchal Gupta, Khushi Kedia and Anoushka Basu who participated in the event, had to create a theme-based garden in a space provided. After a lot of deliberation, the students decided to creat a meditation garden. Plants were arranged to lend an ambience, conducive to de stressing.

Meditation as explained by them is a practice which gives one deep rest and allows the mind to calm down. This practice calms our senses, increases concentration, lends healing power, and frees the mind of agitation.

This garden showcased different flowers and air purifying plants like Chlorophytums, Syngoniums and snake plants. The plants were selected to provide clean air to users amidst a tranquil environment. Along with these plants, a statue of Lord Buddha in meditating position was placed in the area to make for a further uplifting feeling.

Students also lit scented candles and the created a sacred labyrinth walk. This is an ancient practice of circling the circle. It clears the mind and gives one deep insight. It also calms the mind, body and soul.

The garden attracted a good deal of appreciation, particularly for its attention to detail.

The Garden Quiz Nitya Soni and Himani Arora participated in the Garden Quiz. The first round consisted of a written MCQ test of 20 minutes. The second level included a questionnaire on the identification of flowers by sight or through a clue provided. It also included questions on garden equipment. Based upon a unique concept, the competition aroused a lot of curiosity amongst our youngsters!
