Honours at inter school Goenkan Grandeur 2018

Goenkan Grandeur a three day Inter-school competition for art, music (Indian & Western), Western dance and elocution was organised by G D Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj. Our students participated in all the categories.

On the first day ie., 25th July, there were two competitions Western Dance and Art. The theme of the dance competition was Jazz, Hip Hop and Contemporary. Our entry was a combination of all three dance forms which was highly appreciated by the judges as well as the audience. Around 32 students from 16 different schools took part in the on-the-spot Art competition. The students participating were divided into two categories: Category I - classes IX & X Category II - classes XI and XII

The topics for category- I were 'Crazy Weather' and 'The Monuments of India'. The students were allowed to use only acrylic or poster colours for their composition.

The topic for category II was 'Flora and Fauna' and the students were only allowed to use watercolours.

Both the participants, Urvi Beswal (X) and Altamash Khan (XII) won the 2nd position in their respective categories.

On the second day, ie., 26th July, a team of 13 students of classes IX to XII participated in two competitions elocution and Indian folk music. Within the elocution event there were two categories monologue and poetry recitation. Our students performed confidently in both categories.

In the second event of the day-Indian folk music , there were two categories solo (classes XI & XII) and group (classes IX to XII). In the solo category our entry was the famous Rajasthani folk song Chaudhary and for the group event we had the famous Punjabi folk song, Challa. Our school was awarded the second prize for solo song ( Milanpreet Kaur-XII) and Best Accompanist award for Tabla (Anmol Sigh Gandhi-XI).

The three day event ended on 27th July with the Western Music category wherein our entry was highly appreciated by the audience and the esteemed judges.

It was a lovely learning experience for both students and teachers as, at each event the judges offered their valuable comments and tips.
