Honours at inter school tech fest

On 30 August 2024, The Indian School participated in "Tech Uday 2.0", an inter-school technology fest held at Birla Vidya Niketan. The event was organised by “Team Tinkr” in collaboration with “CodeTech” and featured a series of competitions centred around science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Students from classes VI to XII represented our School and presented innovative projects.

In the "Line Following Robot (LFR)" event, Tushaar Narang (XII) and Madhav Sharma (XI) demonstrated an autonomous robot that successfully followed a black line on a white track. Their project used lithium-ion batteries, DC motors, motor drivers, and an Arduino microcontroller to power the robot, which relied on infrared sensors for real-time line tracking and motor speed adjustments. At the junior level, Aryan Sehgal (VIII) and Arnavjeet (VIII) designed and built a line follower robot that employed infrared (IR) sensors to detect and follow black lines. Their precise design allowed for effective tracking, demonstrating impressive technical skill.

In the "Hackathon: Envision Project Website" event, Vansh Sharma (X) and Rishitdeep Singh (X) got the First Prize with their "Envision" web application. This innovative project used a “Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)” model to analyse eye images for signs of disease. Developed using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python (Flask), the project was hosted on GitHub and deployed on a cloud server, earning accolades for its creativity and technical excellence.

In the "SDG-9" event, Jasraj Singh Chadha (XI) and Dhairya Singh Bist (XI) presented "CleanSweep", a multifunctional robot designed for mopping, brushing, and vacuuming. Their robot, which used ultrasonic sensors for obstacle avoidance, secured the Third Position in the category. At the junior level, Kartavya (VIII) and Priyanshu Modak (VIII) impressed the judges with their smart sensor shoes for the visually impaired, capable of detecting obstacles within a range of 40cm to 1 metre.

Ryan Singh (XI) represented our School in the "Tech Talk: Innovation and Regulation" event. His speech, titled "Creating a Balance between Innovation and Regulation", addressed critical issues such as data privacy, cyber-security, and AI ethics, making a strong case for maintaining equilibrium between technological progress and regulatory oversight.

In the "Robo Soccer" event, junior participants Adrika Chaudhary (VIII) and Aditya Pathak (VIII) excelled with their robust and cost-effective robotic car. Constructed from plywood, their vehicle showcased superior design and performance, particularly on grass, all within a minimal budget.

Kavya Joshi (VIII) made a mark in the "Waste to Wonder" event by designing and building a hydraulic robotic arm using simple materials such as cardboard, syringes, and plastic tubes. This project provided valuable insight into the applications of hydraulics and automation. Bhavya Gupta (XII) and Shaurya Singh Bhinder (XII) created a vintage music player using waste materials such as cardboard, newspapers, and bottle caps, showing creativity in repurposing everyday items into functional technology.

The participation in "Tech Uday 2.0" provided The Indian School students with an excellent platform to showcase their technical talents and broaden their understanding of STEM applications. Their successes in various categories brought pride and recognition to the school.
