Dr. Amitabh Sharma, Director, STEM Academy, USA briefly explained the interdisciplinary concept of STEM, which uses multiple lenses to study complex system problems. The next session was STEM-Interdisciplinary approach. This was presented by Prof. Robert Mayes, and Dr. Lisa Stueve, Georgia Southern University, USA. During this session, the teachers were asked to use plastic straws and a piece of a cardboard to make a mobile launcher platform that is light enough to be moved to the launch pad, but strong enough to hold the weight of the rocket. In the process, we gained a lot of information on materials' engineering involved in the development, processing, and testing of materials used to create a range of products that are both light but strong.
Another session Trends Supporting STEM Education was presented by Mr. Ken Parker, CEO- Next Thought, USA. He discussed connecting devices. He pointed out that India had surpassed the United States in the number of internet users in 2015 and ranked 2nd in the world. According to him, humans are literally wired to connect.
